WHAT
WE DO

PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.

Ile Oro means House of Wealth in the Yoruba language and is where our community comes together to honor our ancestral legacy and uplift the presence of West African culture. Ile Oro understands that our cultural inheritance is our wealth.

Ile Oro’s work inspires people of color to accept their cultural legacy, heal from generational trauma and curses, and seek support to help them realize the best potential accessible to them. Ile Oro is evolving into a growing community of people from different ethnic backgrounds, religious/spiritual practices, age groups, or professions that come together to give thanks to the ancestors, uplift the community, and highlight the presence of black excellence. Many of our events are open to the public and free of charge.

Our programmatic goal for 2022 is capacity building, including our communications strategy, volunteer recruitment, technology, cultural enrichment, and artistic development. Our Leadership Committee will continuously seek opportunities that will enable us to develop these competencies and skills to increase the potential to enrich lives and solve some of the problems in the community.

Spiritual Development

We help individuals accept their cultural legacy, heal from generational trauma and curses, and receive spiritual support to help them realize the best potential accessible to them.

Open House Events

Our doors are open to the community. It is how we preserve our cultural legacy and it is how we will motivate the community. We seek to broaden our relationships that lead to creating a world of peace.

Special
Events

We hope to reach underserved people of color who have lost their connectedness to their African roots while using our platform to represent people of color and promote the African Diaspora.

Black Excellence

During the month of September, we celebrate the richness of African culture and black excellence in the community. This is our cultural heritage month where we uplift the community.

Ibeji

Community Partnerships

Our community has an outstanding artistic traditions (dance, woodcarving, sculptures, metalwork, clothing, textiles, and beadwork). We support and uplift these traditions.
